V is for Vertigo

I'm not thrilled with this. I think it's a solid concept, but it didn't come out quite like I had in mind.

U is for The Unicorn

Every character is somebody's favorite character. Even this guy. His superpower is laser hat.

T is for Terrax the Tamer

The second best named character in the Marvel Universe, after Blastaar the Bombast.

S is for The Shocker

Yes, it's The Shocker (and he clearly doesn't understand irony). And he's doing the shocker. I think we can all go home now.

R is for Red Ghost

This one was a lot of fun.

I really like Red Ghost. He's everything I love about Silver Age comics. He's a super evil super genius communist radiologist (seriously!) who gave himself and three monkeys superpowers.

Fucking. Yes.

Q is for Quasar

It took a long time to get this together, and I'm still not happy with it. But at one point I figured it was time to stop fucking with it.

I like old-school Quasar. I like that he has incredible powers, even by Marvel Comics standards, and sticks to this ridiculous set of rules to use them. And I like his stupid haircut.

P is for Power Man Luke Cage

Look at him. Look at him. Luke Cage is making you gay.

O is for The Owl

Wow what a lame character. Seriously. Look him up on Wikipedia.

N is for Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler's wearing the outfit Errol Flynn wears in Captain Blood.

M is for Ms. Marvel

I mostly like the way this one looks. Though I haven't been terribly enthused with Marvel as of late (or indeed comics in general), I do like the direction in which Ms. Marvel has been taken since House of M a few years ago. By rights, she should be one of Marvel's A-List heroes. But I wish she'd go back to calling herself Captain Marvel.

L is for Lady Deathstrike

Does Lady Deathstrike count for an L? Hell, it was this or Living Laser. Or Living Lightning.

Those guys should fight.

More than most, Lady Deathstrike is in desperate need for a new outfit. Hell, look at her old one. This design isn't perfect by any stretch, but I think it's at least more interesting.

Fun fact: in all preliminary sketches, she had hair. I think she looks cool bald. Cool and creepy. Like a marionette.

K is for Karnak

This is the original sketch for the Jubilee piece. I like the final version, but honestly I like this one more.

I like Karnak. He has a cool name, a douchey little moustache, and the goofiest of helmets, for no raisin(!). The thing I like most, though, is that unlike other Inhumans, Karnak was never exposed to the superpower-granting Terrigen Mists...so there's no reason for his head to be that big. It's never explained, and nobody ever comments on it.

J is for Jubilee

I've always liked Jubilee, even when she was The Scrappy in the X-Men cartoon. I don't think she gets due credit.

I should have spent more time on her face, but I like the overall look of this one.

I is for Iron Fist

Severe shaky-hand syndrome caused the inking to come out pretty lousy. Also caused him to have a bulbous WC Fields nose, but I kind of like it.

H is for Hydro-Man

Hydro-Man is in the Ryker's Island Minimum Security Wing.

G is for Gilgamesh the Forgotten One

It's not obvious that he's at his high school (equivalent?) reunion, but I think the gag works nonetheless.

1976 was the year Eternals #1 was published, so there's that.

F is for Firestar

The microwave gag makes me smile. Firestar has dumb, poorly described powers.

E is for Electro

I dig his lightning bolt tie. I wanted to work in a Sinister Six theme in there somewhere, but it turns out they never had a real logo.

D is for Dagger

Bugs me that the words aren't centered in the speech bubble.

C is for Callisto

Realized had the wrong eye missing, so flipped it. Think it looks more distorted now.

B is for Beast

Though it's not so obvious that it's Beast, is it? Maybe if I had drawn Grant Morrison's Disney Beast instead.

A is for Ant-Man

So. This is my excuse to draw super-heroes. This is the first time I've more than doodled anything in...a good while, honestlike.
